Description
An original 1964 U.S. Army Map Service 3D raised relief, Topographical Map titled SAIGON.Prepared by the Army Map Service, Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.
Printed and molded in 1964 from World (Asia), 1:1,000,000, Series 1301, Edition 6-AMS, Sheet NC 48, 1954.
This map is a thin plastic material.
Size: LARGE about 20 1/2" x 32"
Authentic - This was owned by Major General John F. Freund. Then Brigadier General Freund held a number of positions while serving in Vietnam including Special Assistant to the COMUSMACV General William Westmoreland and commander of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade. Some information about General Freund is available on wikipedia.
Condition is used. Edges show wear. A break, about 5" long, on the right hand side near the map block 'ZR'. Small break on bottom at word 'PROJECTION'. An L-shaped break, about 3+ inches, on left in Glossary section. One chip on top right edge. Map shows soiling on front and back. Assume plastic is brittle. See photos.
*** NOTE: this map can not be rolled and shipped in a tube - it is a thin plastic material that, I assume, is likely brittle from age. Therefore, it must be shipped flat in a very large box.***
