Illus billhead & tailoring ticket from British couture house Redfern - 1891

Tailoring ticket and illustrated billhead from the famous house of couture Redfern & Sons (later Redfern Ltd.). Active from 1855-1932, then for a  brief time in 1936-1940, only the Paris extension of Redfern was operated as a couture establishment: other establishments in London, New York, and Edinburgh were primarily tailors and importers. The tailoring ticket is pink with gilt enhanced decorative elements, using the crests from 6 royal families on the back to bring attention to the fact that Redfern was tailor to the best clientele, including the Queen of England, Princess of Wales, Empress of Russia, the Queen of Denmark, Portugal, and Greece, just to name a few. Tickets like these would be used by customers to help keep track of appointments. The billhead has illustrations of even more royal crests, and the bill is written to the same woman whose name is on the tailoring ticket - it is possible that this is the bill for that very appointment. On the bottom there is a one penny stamp which has been written over. 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" (ticket) 7 1/4" x 8 3/4" (billhead)
